The Parc de la Villette is located in the Northern suburbs of the city, it occupies 55 hectars which formerly hosted the ancient slaughter house in Paris. Within its bordes is la Cité de la Musique (the city of music), ended in 1995, home to the Conservatoire, the Museum of Music and an elliptical concert hall surrounded by a covered hall with a wide glass roof.
